Central Kindergarten Registration in Ballarat – What You Need to Know

The Central Kindergarten Registration (CKR) scheme in Ballarat simplifies the enrolment process for families by providing a fair and centralised system for registering children in participating kindergartens. Managed by the City of Ballarat, this scheme reduces administrative work for kindergartens and ensures timely and equitable access to early childhood education.

Free Kindergarten for 3 & 4-Year-Olds

Thanks to Victorian Government funding, children in 3 and 4-year-old kindergarten can access up to 15 hours of free kindergarten each week. Families can register their children from January of the year they turn two.

Early Start Kindergarten (ESK) – Extra Support for Eligible Families

Children from refugee or asylum seeker backgrounds, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander families, or those with child protection involvement can receive 15 hours of free or low-cost kindergarten through the Early Start Kindergarten (ESK) program. From 2026, eligible children will have access to up to 25 hours of Pre-Prep statewide.

Finalising Kindergarten Enrolment

Families must accept or decline placement offers by the due date to secure their spot.
Required documents include:

✅ Immunisation record
