kindergarten applications open for 2025 & 2026 in whittlesea

Exciting news for families in the City of Whittlesea—applications for the 3-year-old kindergarten program in 2025 and the 4-year-old kindergarten program in 2026 are officially open! With a wide range of 43 kindergartens available, including the newly opened Murnong Kindergarten in Donnybrook, Whittlesea is making it easier than ever for families to access essential early education.

Thanks to funding from the Department of Education, the City of Whittlesea is waiving the application fee for both programs. This means families can save up to $46 when enrolling their children, making the process more affordable and accessible. The goal is to help more children participate in these critical early learning years that lay the foundation for their future success.

Kindergarten Open Days

Chair Administrator Lydia Wilson invites all families to explore the kindergarten options available and meet the teaching staff. The upcoming open days are an excellent opportunity for parents and carers to see firsthand the learning environments and programs offered:

  • Thursday, 29 February: 5.30pm to 7.30pm
  • Saturday, 2 March: 9.30am to 11.30am

There is no need to book in advance—just drop by during the specified times to learn more about the programs. It’s a great chance for families to explore and get a feel for the kindergartens before making a decision.

Additional Support for Families

In addition to the open days, the City of Whittlesea is offering free ‘help’ sessions in February and June to assist families with the application process. These sessions provide valuable support in filling out the kindergarten applications, understanding immunisation requirements, and receiving information about Early Start Kinder programs. Translators will also be available to assist families from non-English speaking backgrounds.

To find your closest participating kindergarten or to apply online, visit the Kindergarten applications webpage. For more information about the help sessions, visit the Kindergarten Application Help Sessions webpage.
