In 2025, Victoria will see dozens of new and expanded kindergartens, creating thousands of additional kinder places for children across the state. The announcement, made by Children’s Minister Lizzie Blandthorn, aims to meet the increasing demand for early childhood education, with 70,000 children starting three-year-old kindergarten and 80,000 enrolling in four-year-old kindergarten this year.
Out of the 65 new or upgraded kindergartens, 45 will be located at council, non-government school, and other sector sites, while 20 will be situated at government schools. This initiative is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to improve access to quality education close to home for families.
Some of the government schools set to receive new kindergartens in 2025 include Barayip Primary School in Tarneit, Ballan Primary School, Greenvale Primary School, and Broadmeadows Valley Primary School in Broadmeadows.
This expansion reflects the commitment of a Labor government to prioritize early childhood education and cost-of-living relief, offering more children and families the opportunity to access a world-class kindergarten service.
