Community Feedback Sought on Naming Kindergarten After Late Cr Sarah Carter
The Maribyrnong City Council is inviting community feedback on a proposal to name a newly developed kindergarten in honour of the late Cr Sarah Carter. The proposed name — Sarah Carter Kindergarten — reflects her long-standing commitment to early childhood services and her pivotal role in redeveloping the kindergarten at the Maribyrnong Community Centre, located at 9 Randall Street.
At the recent Council meeting, Councillors endorsed the in-principle approval to commemorate Cr Carter, who served the community for 16 years with passion, integrity, and vision. Her contributions have left a lasting legacy, particularly in advocating for high-quality services for young children and families.
Mayor Cr Pradeep Tiwari acknowledged the widespread community support for this tribute, noting the many kind messages left in a tribute book presented to Cr Carter’s family. “Sarah was an exceptional public servant and a much-loved member of our community. This proposal gives the public a meaningful opportunity to honour her work and memory,” he said.
Community consultation on the naming proposal will open in early May through the Your City Your Voice platform: yourcityyourvoice.com.au
This is your chance to be part of recognising a local leader who helped shape the future for so many families in Maribyrnong.
