Charli Johnson, a Bachelor of Education student at La Trobe University, recently completed a unique Indigenous placement at djimbaya Kindergarten in Bendigo. She expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to observe a culturally safe learning environment. The placement, part of La Trobe’s School of Education program, focuses on First Nations principles and methodologies. Djimbaya Kindergarten, operated by the Bendigo and District Aboriginal Co-Operative, offers an early learning curriculum centered on Indigenous culture and community connections. Charli valued the experience, particularly the strong relationships between educators, families, and the integration of Indigenous culture into daily activities.
